Today is National Coming Out Day

Today – 11 October – is National Coming Out Day.
The annual National Coming Out Day was first held in the USA in 1988, but soon spread to other countries including the UK, Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands among others.
The date marks the anniversary in 1987 of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.
