Superhero Robin comes out

Batman’s sidekick, Robin, has come out as bisexual.

In the latest edition of Batman: Urban Legends, published by DC Comics, Tim Drake, the current incarnation of the iconic superhero and Batman’s sidekick since the 1940s, agrees to go out on a date with character Bernard Dowd.

This follows Drake’s “light bulb moment” after he saved Bernard from the villain Chaos Monster.

Summoning up the courage to check up on Bernard, Tim visits his apartment.

He tells Bernard: “’I’m really glad you got home okay. I was relieved. And I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, about that night. And I — I don’t know what it meant to me. Not yet. But I’d like to figure it out.”

Bernard replies by asking Tim if he wants to go out on a date with him.

Tim responds saying, ‘Yeah, yeah, I think I want that.’

The issue then ends on a cliffhanger.

Fans will have to wait until December to see how their date turns out.

Robin is the latest in a long line of LGBTQ+ comic book characters, including Alpha Flight’s Northstar, the X-Men’s Iceman, and Batwoman.
