The European Commission is to investigate Hungary’s anti-gay law.
The new law bans sharing of content portraying homosexuality to people under the age of 18, and covers educational material and TV shows targeted at an under-18 audience.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leven confirmed that the European Union would investigate the new law.
In a Tweet she wrote:
“Very concerned about the new law in Hungary.
“We are assessing if it breaches relevant EU legislation.
“I believe in a Europe which embraces diversity, not one which hides it from our children.
“No one should be discriminated on the basis of sexual orientation.”
